The film
adaptation of the famous game always fails miserably both in quality and
financially. The only movie adaptations of video games are able to break the
100 million USD only Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - and the film that was released
in 2001 ago. I wonder what the curse is there so that the two largest
entertainment media has never been successfully relate to one another. After a
few years absence film adapted from the video game in this 2014 is released
Need for Speed is adapted from one of the best-selling game franchise EA
releases. The history of Need for Speed game itself is long. First released in 1994, this franchise is almost always release a game every year, making it one of the franchise name that is instantly recognized by gamers. Is that success can be translated to the big screen by Scott Waugh and John Gatins? Complete line of talent in this film is Aaron Paul, Breaking Bad freshdari finish the series, as the main star Dominic Cooper coupled with the cast who plays antagonistic. Let the race begin!
Tobey Marshall
along with his colleagues is the best mechanic in the area. Not only known as a
whiz mechanic tinkering with cars, Tobey is also a reliable racer street
racing. It makes it always has a rivalry with Dino Brewster. In contrast to Tobey,
Dino is a wealthy man. Racing is a hobby for him where he can find satisfaction
in addition to add to a collection of racing cars. This rivalry lasted the pent
up one day and Dino followed by Tobey Tobey friend, Pete, clashing race to
prove who is the fastest. Please visit here
A tragedy
occurred on the day of the race and Tobey have to go to jail for a mistake he
did not commit. For two years Tobey prepare for revenge against Dino. After his
release from prison Tobey collect his old crew to perform highest races in his
career. Borrowed the car from a millionaire who is represented by an agent of
the British gorgeous: Julia, can enter the tournament Tobey illegal street
racing most grand and then beat Dino to avenge him?
Scott Waugh
should be recognized is a powerful director who worked on the race scene-scene
in this movie. Although perhaps not as crazy as Justin Lin in Fast Five or Fast
& Furious 6, Waugh arguably lost only 'budget' alone. Imagination,
creativity, and style of the choreography does not. And that is the main
selling of Need for Speed. The style of racing in this movie that more
emphasis to street racing will remind you of the early films in the franchise
The Fast and the Furious before. They turn into a criminal genre / heist in the
past three movies. Fans of Need for Speed game, the main title of Most Wanted
and Hot Pursuit was certainly feels happy with the inclusion of elements of the
police disrupt the race in this movie. Inclusion is repeatedly made me like
remembering back to the scenes of the game Need for Speed. When Waugh then
add elements to highlight the slow-mo scene-scene collision I involuntarily
laugh in the middle of the cinema realizes it is a homage to the gamers.
Location races in this film also takes various settings ranging from the city,
mountains, deserts, forests ... enough to complete. If it later turns out James
Wan less successful with Fast & Furious 7 seems to be reckoned Waugh name
entered.
Narrative of
John Gatins who previously wrote for Flight is actually a solid but generic.
Setup built by Gatins long enough, almost half an hour early in the film, but
the payoff that led to the tragedy that I mentioned in the paragraph above is
the most powerful emotional moments in this film. Unfortunately after that
movie like Need for Speed lose momentum, entering races that are still
exciting because Waugh knows how to choreograph a good race but in terms of
story feels pointless and meaningless. In fact, in a duration of more than two
hours I was actually hoping one of two racing scenes in this film can be cut in
order to impact the final race more exciting and stomping.
For casting the
film itself has a strong main leads in Aaron Paul. I know that Paul has not
been widely recognized by mainstream movie fans because he's been stuck on the
screen. But the series, starring Paul was not a joke. He played in with Bryan
Cranston of Breaking Bad, one of the best series of all time. Now get out of
his contract in the series you can believe that Paul would be much ogled the
big screen star. Need for Speed is one of the means of proving his talent and
Paul do it convincingly. There is no scene here which forced him to be acting
up but he already maximizing scenario proffered to him. Dominic Cooper as Dino
Brewster here was no less acting with Paul. The Cooper Howard Stark in Captain
America: The First Avenger does have face punk and sucks and here he appears to
be the villain that you love to hate. Performance is sometimes very annoying
and make it too one dimensional ... but it looks like it would make the
audience increasingly supporting Paul.
Unfortunately
many party crews here Tobey played by many actors do not get enough B class
spotlight in the story, especially during the last race. For two beautiful
virgin in this movie there are chemistry Imogen Poots with Paul quite a way
(considering they spend a lot of time in the car together ... I'm glad the
chemistry works!) And Dakota Johnson were elected to Anastasia Steele in 50
Shades of Grey . I personally prefer Imogen Poots. I remember that she was once
contender figure of Gwen Stacy in the reboot The Amazing Spider-man and saw her
here first I guess if elected he would not play it less slick than Emma Stone.
So my conclusion
is ... Need for Speed is a film adaptation of the game above average most of
the film adaptation of the game. If you are a fan of the game Need for Speed
or Fast & Furious series which missed the street racing theme that was
once the center of the story should give this film a chance to watch.
