Upon hearing the
news that Captain Phillips is a themed movie piracy adaptation of a true story
I then recalled the Oscar-winning movie of 2013 early last: Argo. Featuring Tom
Hanks as the lead role and directed by Paul Greengrass, who has long vacuum.
Ask the people
who engaged in the maritime world about what is the most dangerous seas in the
world then they must answer is in the sea area of the African continent there,
especially adjacent to Somalia. It's been an open secret that modern day
pirates (no, they do not like Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean or
Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece) is a terrorist at the top of the water that is
not afraid to complain for the sake of lives could be seized cargo ships value
of goods that can cost millions and even billions of dollars.
Richard Phillips
started track as usual voyage from Oman to Mombasa. Before any trip the captain
had misgivings because he had heard many warnings about pirate attacks.
Therefore he has prepared his men to make preparations in case the most feared
things happen. And that's what happened. A group of pirates led by Abduwali
Muse broke through the guard of the ship Maersk Alabama captain as a captain.

Intense and
thrilling. Two words that I could use to describe Captain Phillips. After the
initial moment the audience is used to introduce the character of Richard
Phillips and Abduwali Muse, Paul Greengrass began to build tension by bringing
together two leaders from each of the ships in the game chases the cat and
mouse are exciting and thrilling. It was great to see how the two alternated
each issue strategy to escape and capture prey.
In a film that
explores the figure of Tom Hanks as the main actor you can be expected that a
group of pirates led by Muse appeared only as a mere figure of an antagonist.
In fact that's not what happened. Paul Greengrass to find talent in the fourth
pirate, especially in self Barkhad as Muse Abdi. It was one of the first major
commercial film, starring unexpected Abdi and the actor is able to repeatedly
face to face with Tom Hanks in one scene and stole the spotlight from the
two-time Oscar winner is.
Of course that
does not mean Tom Hanks himself look bad. Far from it. Captain Phillips is
arguably the best performance of Tom Hanks from Cast Away in which he poured
out all his emotions ranging from fear, anger, until the tension in the movie.
Although as late summer and lost Abdi appearance in scene-scene early in the film,
the final third of the film is the total show why Tom Hanks referred to as one
of the best character actors of our generation. His performances were so loose
at the end of the film even made me feel compassionate and sympathize with
what happened to him.
Paul Greengrass
also demonstrated its ability to direct a film in a variety of contexts in
Captain Phillips. Unmitigated this film takes place in various types of venues
ranging from big room on the boat deck in the middle of the high seas to a much
narrower as a room or compartment only. In very fluid and smooth Greengrass
jump from one setting to another setting. Also one more thing I want to praise
is the ability to refrain Greengrass was not too excessive wear shaky camera as
a trademark.
