Although
featuring three major names in the figure casting: Justin Timberlake, Gemma
Arterton, and Ben Affleck are in fact only two that have a dominant role in
this film: Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck. I quite liked the acting of Ben
Affleck in the movie that was never featured as an antagonist completely but
rather as a realistic person in a dark business like this. Some of you might
see himself as a villain but Ben Affleck gives rancid quite different
performance so that those who have been in business directly understand that
what Ivan did actually already been doing well. Hey, who does not ever cheat
the laws of the country where they live?
Anyway outside
Ben Affleck's performance is slightly above average I can not say the same
thing for Justin Timberlake and Gemma Arterton. Gemma Arterton here appear as a
sweetener screen, maybe because he split time of busy shooting for many films
that aired this year. Good love story with Ivan and with Richie did not develop
well and there seemed forced. On the other hand the actual Justin Timberlake
performed quite nicely in the beginning of the movie until the meeting with
Ivan. After the screenplay written by Brian Koppelman and David Levien did not
give him much room to move. Richie character he played as if just dragged and
carried away in the flow of the story, instead of being the driving force. What
is this intentional by the director Brad Furman to be an analogy about how
difficult the escape from the trap of gambling addiction when it overdo him?Find Your Pleasure Here
So my conclusion is ... if there is
Brad Furman decision was the right to edit and limit the film is less than 90
minutes because the script could not resist the story much longer than that.
Prior to freefall into a boring spectacle thriller Runner Runner managed to
escape into the category of spectacle mediocre because the duration is short
enough. Which obviously do not expect to know too much about online gambling in
this movie, it looks like after the first premise of this topic and then sank
just lifted once two more times throughout the film!
