The film has an
actor in it (sometimes combined with the theme of survival) will usually
attract people's attention to him. The level of success of the film is
different both commercially and in quality as evidenced by the movie Cast Away
and I Am Legend until Buried and 127 Hours which if not commercially successful
it will be received favorably by critics. All Is Lost too. The film J.C. This
Chandor starring Robert Redford's only a movie and it is one that has a strong
echo in the arena of film awards this year.Redford's character in this film does not have a name. The film opens when this nameless sailor woke up and realized that there was a gaping hole in the ship because pounded by falling container on the high seas. This sailor was alone in the boat, but he was a competent sailor. Quickly and quietly he let go of the collision containers on the ship and patched with makeshift equipment on board. From his movements are agile and efficient, we know that the sailor is not the anonymous amateur
The next problem
arises for the sailors when the initial danger has passed, he realized that the
navigation and communication systems in the container ship was damaged due to
the collision. Various ways that he did to try to find help failed. The sailors
were not able to do anything other than try to guess the location of where she
was and tried to sail to the mainland. However, the high seas is a very
dangerous place even for a seasoned sailor. A storm arises and the sailors
threatened ... can he survive or appropriate headings in this film really has
lost everything ... including his life expectancy?please visit here
Robert Redford
is an older generation of actors who never get the love from the audience. He
is a respected actor but never to be loved as actors in his generation a la Al
Pacino, Dustin Hoffman and Robert De Niro. His name may be known but the number
of known among mainstream film with his colleagues lost it. Redford seemed to
be trying to change the stereotype that through this film. He wants to prove
that he was an actor who could perform total.
And he was very
successful in this film. 90 percent in this silent movie without sound where the
director just follow the movements of Redford efficient in dealing with
problems-his problem in the oceans. How do we know that Redford is a seasoned
and experienced sailors? All were delivered by the actor through his body
language that is always efficient and do not choose a lot of useless movements:
a true pragmatist. Redford was able to show how moral and composure slowly but
surely destroyed by the sea ferociously. When misfortune misfortunes keep
piling up for the sake of full cry Redford anger and frustration fully conveyed
to the audience.
Unfortunately
Redford tour de force for more than 90 minutes is not perfect because
meaningless emotion involved in it. The only sympathy to the figure of the
sailor's only when he roared in frustration. That's it. However, the
performance of any as good as Redford he can not make the audience support. Why
is he so wants to fight for survival? It is not only because he did not want to
lose by the sea has long been a friend of his life? Or because he wants to go
back to someone waiting on the mainland? If only there were more background
story to the character of the sailors then surely we as viewers would be more
sympathetic to his cause. Maybe J.C. Chandor want to experiment in this way but
I think this is wrong and it makes the film All Is Lost emotionally bland.
Lucky this film is not entirely
removed by Redford alone because the music of Alex Ebert also help revitalize
the atmosphere. Not only was the sound effects of turbulent water, the
hurricane comes, everything is maximized to help be a secondary actor for
Redford. These things sometimes get overlooked by the audience in regular movies but the movies alone and
silent types All Is Lost, indirectly attention was sucked in by the little
things that sometimes is forgotten.
