Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics

Watch The Trailers
In the opening words of this documentary film Christopher Lee as the narrator says that crime is not something that is just there but a necessity - something that must exist in the comic sheets because without it there is also a superhero. The existence of the villain ... supervillain are figures that forces the superhero to react to them. Without Lex Luthor or the other criminals commit their crimes then Clark Kent will not turn into Superman. Just as Lex Luthor constantly thinking how to master the world, how Brainiac and Darkseid kept thinking how devastating is the world, Clark Kent turns into Superman must continue to stop them.

At first glance the status of the film world today it is very easy to see that the central DC is far far behind with rival Marvel. One reason is DC is said to have a superhero too hard translated on screen than Marvel. But it does not apply to the supervillain. To figure the supervillain DC has a rich collection of which is not less to be dug. Almost all the world's major villains-villains such as Lex Luthor DC, Brainiac, Joker, Bane, Sinestro, The Riddler, Reverse Flash, and many others have a variety of motives that differ from each other.
What else makes the supervillain is interesting to not only dig their character when it stands alone, but how they are complementary with the superhero against them. Lex Luthor example is the true antithesis of Superman. Why? Because if Superman is an alien with super powers then Lex is a common man of genius who does not like to hand over a man's destiny into the hands of an alien who acts like a god. What happens if it suddenly decided god does not want to protect humans (as in gameInjustice)? Or another example of a mentor-student relationship between Sinestro and Hal Jordan are further transformed into a mortal enemy because of differences in their principles. Please visit here
This documentary was created by DC to promote their second biggest story arc this year: Forever Evil where the world lost the Justice League superheroes who protect them and totally dependent with the supervillain to work together to stop the new enemy. Unfortunately this documentary does not provide anything new other than repeating what is already known by most readers of comics. For comics readers like me the information conveyed in this documentary is something that I either own conclusions from reading DC comics, watching both the series Young Justice cartoon style live-action or macamSmallville and Arrow, to play a variety of games that are released.
What I think is wasted in this documentary is how they spend too little time to explore the figure of Wonder Woman. While many portions of this documentary tells the story of Lex Luthor, Zod, Joker, Bane, even the Sinestro, Black Adam, Ocean Master is too little time is used to tell the enemy of Wonder Woman. It is one of the world's figure of trinity in DC but he has a rogue gallery that is not only less competent with both colleagues trinity but also with other kinds of class B superhero The Flash and Green Lantern.
The question is why is that? Did DC is the home of many attractive women supervillain characters like Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and Star Sapphire? Is it so difficult for them to create a dominant figure for Wonder Woman opponent other than the girl's leopard cheetah (which in this documentary was not discussed at all)? Currently Brian Azzarello is trying to expand the group Villain for Wonder Woman and I hope he succeeds so that the results can be gleaned several years to come.

Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics also invited a lot of comic writers, famous figures such as actors, even a psychologist to comment in this documentary makes it appear more like a commentary to the comics that I read so far. Geoff Johns for example, tells why he chose some kind of dialogue in the Green Lantern comics he wrote. Some things are subtle paste it in this new comic I know after hearing his comments - made me increasingly appreciate the brilliance of this one writer does when he was on fire. I'm sure if this documentary was watched by those who are lay comic it is very likely they will be more interested to dig into the rich world of DC comics.
