Trends films adapted from novels Young Adult is not a new thing. Franchise. Harry Potter for example, has been around since 2001. However, this trend is starting to get really noticed by Hollywood since the advent of Twilight in the 2008 first (as Harry Potter in the early books geared more for children than adolescents). Twilight is a big success spliced ​​with The Hunger Games makes the Hollywood studios directly adapting a wide range of Young Adult novels to the big screen. Unfortunately most of them failed in the market because it is considered merely as a copycat of the two novels above and because their fanbase is not up to Twilight and The Hunger Games.

It's different things for Divergent. Because distributed by Lionsgate studios (already acquired studio Summit) is responsible for two hit Young Adult, they knew exactly how the right marketing. With social media, using the artist which was rising (Shailene Woodley), Divergent changes than just an adaptation of Young Adult else to be the next The Hunger Games to look forward to. How did it go?

If the common man has a strong nature, Beatrice has three. He is a special category called Divergent. Since it is considered an abnormal and can not be controlled (read: new world order harm) Beatrice his life as Divergent. He chose to enter into a Dauntless and meet handsome instructor named Four (with whom he quickly falls in love with him). Is Beatrice could find its place in the social order of this world?

Before watching this movie I've read the novel Divergent and tend to vote for granted. The concept is quite unique (not original) divides people based on five properties but the execution is written by Veronica Roth weak. You know the four basic human nature: sangguin, melancholy, kolerik, and plegmatik? Do you know why now it's human nature difficult to wear even been abandoned? That's because humans basically can not be categorized in one nature. They impose only have one trait will only make them become stressed and will eventually burst the rage. In other words: the concept of keeping the peace by dividing human nature in the categories they have first one because basically every human being is a Divergent.

My second problem in the novel is the nature of the Dauntless. Mentioned that they are not afraid of the brave clan but what they do throughout the novel is more precisely called sloppy and stupid. There is a dividing line being reckless and stupid or being brave and Dauntless repeatedly pass through the barrier, making them more like a clan whose life is spent watching Jackass movie and then replicate it in real life.

Neil Burger not new in the world of sci-fi because it never used to direct a film Limitless. Burger proves that he does have the capacity to direct a blockbuster movie where he successfully turn the dystopian atmosphere in this film. The world is occupied by Beatrice may seem safe in it but the occasional burger and highlight interesting camera distance - the human ignorance of what lies beyond their residence. Residence of the Dauntless also has its own characteristics different from the residence of the other clans. Given this new book, the first of three new factions are unearthed, but others will follow factions dug in next.

Shailene Woodley could become the next Jennifer Lawrence. By selecting kejeliannya alternating between dramatic roles and blockbusters like he has the potential to be the teen idol. Woodley appearance here is similar to how I imagine Tris from his novel. Woodley is good again for he could mendownplay Tris several properties that sucks from his novel. Theo James as the partner unfortunately less able to compensate. He may not appear bad but he spent almost the entire first movie brooding (snatch and ass cool). I think teenage girl may like a look like that. I do not know.

Two other actors who appeared as a supporting character that is important in this film is Jai Courtney and Miles Teller. Courtney apparently on the rise. Many times he was involved in a high profile project after the first breakout at Jack Reacher in 2012 ago. Unfortunately the human acting is so-so only. He fits in well appear to be an actor who sucks with no depth of emotion. On the other hand surprised Miles Teller as Woodley. Both duet drain my emotions in The Spectacular Now and ability Teller changed from being a sympathetic figure who is super annoying surprise. I wait for later transformation into Mr. Fantastic in Fantastic Four reboot.

One disappointing thing for me is how Divergent wasted senior casting this film. Starting from Kate Winslet, Maggie Q, until Ashley Judd all wasted by appearance only piecemeal. Winslet is very disappointing mainly because even though his performance is greater than the other senior artists he failed to present himself as a memorable figure. When compared with Donald Sutherland or Phillip Seymour-Hoffman in The Hunger Games it is indeed still far.

So my conclusion is ... apart from slight weakness Divergent movie is actually one of the best adapt of Young Adult novels that I watched on the big screen. Unfortunately ordinary novel itself so that the results I was watching on the screen can not be more than just good ... but not exceptional.
