Edge of Tomorrow

Star Tom Cruise was already not as strong as they used to be in the 1990s and early to mid 2000s where almost every movie that he starred almost certainly able to break the 100 million USD. However, very exaggerated to say that Tom Cruise is now no longer popular. The fact is: the controversy surrounding the marriage and divorce with Katie Holmes, Scientology religion that was followed, and many more, Tom Cruise is still one of the most popular actors on earth whose name can be known by people all over the world. That is the reason why the big studios still dare to launch a big budget movie with his name.
After Oblivion last year was less successful, Tom Cruise once again tried his luck in the sci-fi genre with the film Edge of Tomorrow. Unlike Oblivion which is a sci-fi movie with the original scenario, Edge of Tomorrow is an adaptation of the Japanese sci-fi novel written by Hiroshi Sakurazaka titled All You Need is Kill.  Please Visit This.

When the invasion occurred on earth Mimics the troops from around the world united to fight it. Ironically though backed by military force even the best of human beings continue to experience defeat on the battlefield. State is slightly improved with the creation of an exo-skeleton armor coupled with a war symbol Rita Vrataski. William Cage is an army rank of Major but never go down to the front lines of war, it is a duty as long as the media mouthpiece of that entices young people to advance to the battlefield.
Unfortunately for Cage because one day his boss told him to go down to the front lines for the sake of more accurate coverage. Although Cage had tried to avoid the responsibility of yet he still dragged into it. As might be expected, Cage was killed on his first day just after he killed the two enemies. Luckily for Cage it is not just normal but kill Mimic Mimic with special abilities. And Cage gain new powers: turning time.
Cage ability in playing time whenever he is dead then raises a new question: where did this power come and Cage how to use this power so that he could help win the war against the Mimic?
Is a pleasant surprise while watching this film to see Tom Cruise performing outside her usual character stereotypes - at least in the early half of this movie. Cage's character is portrayed as a coward and want to own victory a little different from the heroic characters that can be played by the actor. Cowardly behavior of Cage coupled with their tendency to die repeatedly into humor material excavated by Doug Liman to make this film not merely serious.
War against Mimic who repeatedly ends with the death of Cage can sometimes remind gamers with the frustrating parts of a video game. Indirectly Doug Liman actually was giving homage to gamers. Gamers who do not understand the frustration dies repeatedly in a certain spot where we have to repeat that section over and over again in order to really get the feel and the new section with a perfect pass? Yes it feels like it, too, at certain moments to watch Edge of Tomorrow: playing games.
As usual the acting of Tom Cruise here is solid. We already know Tom Cruise feels. He is an actor who always perform optimally in any roles but ya got there just the limits of his acting ability. What a shame that in this movie-actor Cruise not get another artist who is able to emulate, not like Morgan Freeman in Oblivion. Here chemistry Cruise and Emily Blunt feels less explored and a sub-plot romance between the two did not help the film but instead disrupt it. I personally agree that this story is actually eliminated rather than just being a bully.
Another drawback of the film Edge of Tomorrow lies in its third act is oversized. After the initial two thirds intelligent film that throws a twist for the sake of a twist to the audience, the end and the climax of this film falls in the cliché Hollywood movies mostly. Because it's what makes the Edge of Tomorrow special than say, the films of other kinds invasion Battle: Los Angeles and Starship Troopers be lost. This is compounded by the climactic scene that feels mediocre. Quite disappointing considering director Doug Liman who is actually good at concocting including action scenes are exciting.

So my conclusion is ... in spite of weakness in the final third of the film, Edge of Tomorrow is still a sci-fi movie that is fun and funny. Do not get too stuck on the novel / manga because surely there is a difference here and there but the make no mistake, this is an adaptation that shows respect for the material first.
