300 rise of empire

Watch The Trailers
When the 300 was released in 2006 had none of the box office observer who thought this movie could be a box office sensation that is able to gain more revenue than 200 Million USD in the United States and nearly half a billion USD to the total global income. It is therefore little surprise that plans for a sequel to this movie continuously delayed. The making plan is continue to put forward, but only in the year 2012 and there is seriousness to actually run the making process. Lena Headey old faces like Peter Mensah, and Rodrigo Santoro back in this sequel to the film while also introducing two new faces of the dominant Greek and Persian camp. From the Persian camp is Artemisia, general war woman while believed by Xerxes from the Greek camp is Themistocles, this time lined up to be the main protagonist.

Invasion of the Persian invasion of Greece has been started since 10 years before the events in the movie 300 was king Darius When deploying troops to conquer Greece but ended in defeat. Greek soldiers under the command of Themistocles stop the Persians and even injure the King. Darius returned with severe injuries and died. He was succeeded by his son Xerxes timid. Under the guidance of Artemisia Xerxes somehow turned into a crazy, a king who believes he is more than a king. A king who believes he is god. Xerxes gathered all his strength of sepenjuru Persian empire and launched a massive attack against Greece.
Given Greece of two paths open: north and south, the Greek government to stop the confusion of the attack. If only survive on the northern Persian will penetrate from the south. Therefore, the strategy of Greece proposed by Themistocles. From the north gate Thermophylae will be maintained by the soldiers of Sparta - 300 men under the command of King Leonidas. On the other side of the ocean from the south will be maintained by Themistocles. It is a war of two lines which are equally important for Greece. If the losing side then the other side will be broken and make the whole city of Athens destroyed by the Persians.
It is better to watch 300: Rise of an Empire is without knowing the real history of the Persian wars - Greece so as not to be a spoiler. This sequel is actually a fitting companion of prekuel. Why? Because of the way the story moves at the same time so that when put together it becomes a more powerful epic for the Persian wars - the Greek. When watching this film by Noam Murro (Zack Snyder is busy working on the Man of Steel this time just sitting as a producer) is difficult to not think of the struggle of King Leonidas. Both sides were equally fought against the Persians, both trust each other because if one side knows the other side breached will be affected. Please visit here
Of the old characters who appear here I actually kind of disappointed that Xerxes did not get enough time to appear. It is said that since then the popularity of Frank Miller movie 300 comic writers working on the story of the spin-off centered on how Xerxes was transformed from a timid crown prince who became a god like in his empire. That alone should be an interesting story, and in this film feels too rushed, even mystical. Rodrigo Santoro did not have much chance of appearing here and less able to maximize its role, in contrast with Lena Headey that although the appearance is also not a lot of time maximizing every role - especially since he also narrates the film overall.
For his new character itself Sullivan Stapleton as Themistoceles already doing her best to be a substitute for Gerard Butler as Leonidas king but that's what he will ever be: a replacement. Leonidas with a million first internet meme is an icon of the 300 and its absence is felt here. Stapleton is not an actor of the caliber of Butler (WHO himself is not that good an actor anyway) and a lot of scenes where he still appears to stutter when should be the leader of his army. More successfully perform as a ruthless villain here is the ex-girl Eva Green James Bond. Even so I do not think Green looks incredible as claimed by the majority of critics. Why? Because Green as Artemisia here is actually the same as Green as Morgan Pendragon once he play in the series Camelot. She is good, she is captivating, she is evil. Yet after seeing Green as a villain in a row in Camelot, Dark Shadows, and 300: Rise of an Empire, I started to get bored and felt he always had a role stereotypes as a little girl psychopathic evil.
Effect of green screen now has a lot of advanced than when the 300 first came out first and the results are shown here. This time the battle is cleverly took a very different approach from prekuel. While Leonidas and his comrades fight on the ground then Themistoceles commanding the battle in the water. Refreshing to see a fight naval battles are still rarely included in the historical epic films like this, probably because the cost is huge. The only movie I remember before the Red Cliff Part 2 of John Woo who has ever done a large-scale war on board a ship. Uniquely there are some scenes in this film reminds me of Zhuge Liang's strategies employed when dealing with Cao Cao's ships on the Yangtze river. What is it? Watch it yourself because I do not want spoilers. The only disappointment I would this movie is the ending that feels ... hang.

So my conclusion is ... 300: Rise of An Empire does not have a script strong as its predecessor (no "Tonight, we dine in hell!" Or "This ... is ... SPARTAAA !!!") as well as new characters are memorable outside of Artemisia, but with the cultivation of the war with stylish choreography plus different battlefield so that makes it refreshing, this is a fitting companion to 300 Seize your glory!
