Pacific Rim

Far away before a single person to know about the movie Pacific Rim  when I was listening to Guillermo Del Toro to make a movie about robots fighting monsters. Know because I am a nerd hear such a concept would feel like childhood dream fulfilled. But I keep my hopes for this project is currently just a rumor and there is not necessarily a pretty crazy movie studios want to give a big budget for Del Toro. Please note: The film industry is not in play and give the green light a movie like gambling with the money of hundreds of million USD!

Toh project from Del Toro's unexpected get full support from the studio Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. With a budget of 180 million USD and the trailer is epic and compelling (at least for the fanboy genre of mecha and kaiju state sunrise) then released Pacific Rim markets. As a result, as we know himself quite alarming where this movie is not only not willing to compete with the results from the second weekend Despicable Me 2 but also lose the Adam Sandler comedy Grown Ups 2 What movie is this bad?

As already mentioned in the trailer: sudden out of nowhere just a dimensional portal open pacific ocean policy and monster-monster called kaiju sprung from there. One by one the defense of human and even loss of their attacks. Squeezed and desperate people even gather their resources and create giant robots named Jaeger. This experiment is a success at first because Jaeger able to stop the kaiju but with the passage of time the kaiju been able to adapt and become more dangerous monster. The pilot left Jaeger decided to unite and launch a final assault that will decide the fate of mankind.

If the story of this movie feels cliche and take inspiration from a lot of mecha anime that you do not need to watch it wonder why Del Toro admitted many times that he is a fans of the genre Mecha and kaiju during childhood even until now. When I first watched this movie trailer I immediately thought of the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion and sure enough this movie does have some semblance of a robot from a prepared against kaiju (Jaeger with EVA have similar operating systems with neural networks). Was different from the motion of the robot in Transformers Autobots and Decepticons are nimble berakrobat jumping here and there, Guillermo Del Toro take a more mechanical approach to movement and realistic.

Fighting between Jaeger fight kaiju is a specialty film and Del Toro did not disappoint. Every movement, every shot, and every battle choreography is done by very brilliant and full of atensi. Del Toro knows that it is not only the dream of his life still 12 years with this movie, it represents the dream of millions of people who want to return to the spirit of their 12 years. And it is fully tercerminkan here. It's hard to hold a round of applause and cheers see Jaeger Gypsy Danger accompanied songs from Ramin Djawadi  strike the screen stomping kaiju. Seriously epic!

Unfortunately the film on one side to the other side claimed Del Toro: stories. Quality stories in Pacific Rim is not as bad and as light from the work of Michael Bay Transformers trilogy, but instead they also lack a global picture of the effects of the world Kaiju attacks. Almost 85% of this movie is based on only one region of the world to the global effect of the figure represented only-figure present in this film - instead of setting location. If only this movie Del Toro success may be put in the sequel ... once again if only.

And talk about his or her character overacting nothing like Shia LaBeouf and his family in the Transformers trilogy, but there are some who do not have a sympathetic figure in the eyes of the audience as well as memorable characters with the exception of Stacker Pentecost played by Idris Elba as a charismatic and decisive leader, but also a humanist. And ah, I definitely will not forget the speech that produced the most memorable quote of this summer: "Today ... we are cancelling the apocalypse". Unfortunately in this movie is the appearance of two scientists who overacting and a little bit annoying. For me both are the weakest point of the film for failing to fulfill its obligations as a comic relief. Del Toro her partner Ron 'Hellboy' Perlman also appears in this movie as the scene Stealer.
